Long Gone

from York Sessions (2001) by Paul Aitken

/

about

I’ve spent a lot of my time travelling, sometimes for many months at a time. I never really feel homesick per se, but there are always certain things that I have to return home to indulge myself in. Be it friends, family, or just the surroundings that one grew up with, these are very powerful forces. The last eight bars make me think of the last 50 kilometres before home, or the moment the plane begins descending to land at Pearson airport in Toronto. This tune could have been called "Long Time Gone".
